Four Special Layers

Durable & Affordable

A flooring type that is created by laminating together four distinct layers.

  • The Wear Layer
  • The Decor Layer (appearance layer)
  • Core Layer
  • Backing Layer

Unlike natural flooring options like wood, stone, or cork, laminate flooring is synthetic. It comprises four different layers that are sealed together in the lamination process.

Laminate flooring is designed to be both durable as well as affordable.

The décor layer is a printed image and therefore can recreate the look of more expensive flooring types like wood, tile, or stone.

Laminate flooring is incredibly versatile. In addition to the various types of materials, installation methods, surface types, and patterns, it also comes in a wide array of finishes to achieve the look you want. It can mimic different types of wood flooring in finishes like oak, walnut, hickory, and maple. Laminate flooring can also create the look of tile or stone flooring.

Different materials have different pros and cons, but in general, laminate flooring is a very affordable option, especially in comparison to wood and stone flooring. Material costs are low. If you need some help deciding which type of laminate flooring may be best for you, contact the Delmarva Design Center, as we are here to help.

Durability is also a key reason for choosing laminate flooring. Engineered wood and plastic laminate differ, but laminate flooring is a rugged option. It can stand up to moving furniture, children running, and high traffic. It doesn’t require special tools or products to clean. It is waterproof or water-resistant, depending on the material you choose.

If you have a particular aesthetic in mind that needs wood, stone, tile, or another such material, then visit the Delmarva Design Center. During your visit, you can compare laminate flooring with hardwood, stone, or tile to make a fully informed decision.
